The Process

Whether you are just beginning or you are half way through, deciding to get your business online is an important decision. Everyone wants instant access to information and regardless of what type of business you are in, your protential customers want to be able to research and read about you and your business.

A web site offers your customer 24/7 access. They can see the services you offer, read testimonials, see picture and become familar with your business.

So, if you are just beginning, where you do start? Below are a list of the inital steps to getting your web site up and running, but as you start your process with Monica, she will walk you through it step-by-step.

1) Choosing a Domain Name.

Domain name is whatever follows the www. (ie. MonicaSwanson.com is my domain name.) The most common place to check available domain names is GoDaddy.com. You can type in all of your ideas for domain names and see which ones are available to purchase. To give you a price idea, the typical .com domain name will cost $10.69 after tax annually.

2) Purchasing Web Hosting

Once you have your domain name, you will need to purchase web hosting. Essentially, you are renting space on a large computer (a.k.a. Servers) that is suppose to be connected to the internet all of the time. Once your web site is designed, this is where the files are stored. This is completely independent of Monica Swanson.

You are free to choose any Web hosting company that you want and there's a large selection. To help you, I have listed some top Web hosting companies.

GoDaddy can also host your website for as low as $3.99 a month in the Economy plan.*

Hosting24 offers great plans as low was $4.84 that include unlimited web space and unlimited data transfer. Visit their site to find out more.*

A personal favorite of mine is LinkDisk. Right now they are offering ONE month free. There's also no contract. Read on their site to find the details.*

*Please note that you will need to verify their current plans and specials. I am just letting you know what I have found on their site.

3) Web site Development

Once the domain name has been bought and the hosting purchased, they are connected via nameservers. This is included when the retainer is paid. Now, everything is set up and we can start web developing.

I will work with you to find an ideal layout, design, coloring and feel for your business. I want you to be proud of your web site so I will work closely with you during the developement.
